Locking wheel nuts we can still get off
The little key lives in the glovebox until it does not. We see this constantly on leased cars around Kew and the Richmond Hill flats. If a tyre needs to come off and the lock is the only thing in the way, we deal with the nut rather than sending you to a main dealer in the morning.
What that means in practice
- Keyed nuts, rounded keys, and the ‘it was in this car when I bought it’ problem
- Done as part of a tyre visit when that is why we are there
- We do not wreck the wheel to save five minutes
- Tell us the make — some locking sets are fussier than others
Questions we get
Will you damage the alloy?
The aim is a clean nut and an unhurt wheel. If a nut is so far gone that the only option risks the alloy, we stop and talk it through.
Can you do the nuts without fitting a tyre?
Yes, if that is the whole job — for example you need the wheel off for someone else. Say so when you message.
