Bushy Park dominates this district and shapes the driving around it. The roads across and alongside the park are open, quick and poorly lit at the edges, and the failure we see most is the one that happens at speed: a sidewall gone on a pothole, a tyre down to the cords on the inside edge that nobody spotted because the car was never up on a ramp. Hampton and Hampton Hill are calmer — driveways, garages, cars that will not be moving until somebody fits a tyre to them.

Gate closing times on Bushy Park change through the year and vehicle access is restricted at some of them, which can make an evening job on the far side a longer approach than it looks. Hampton Hill is a working parade with loading restrictions in the middle of the day, so the exact spot matters more than the street name.
